In an exceptional night where sport mingled with local pride, Barcelona goalkeeper Juan Garcia was crowned ‘Buggy Ambassador’ to the applause of 300 prominent figures from around the world in politics, culture and economics, fueling his enthusiasm towards his bigger dream of representing Spain at the 2026 World Cup.
Manresa was last night’s first edition of Baghis Night at the Water and Textile Museum, which aims to turn the event into an annual tradition celebrating the region’s talent and potential, and where the tribute was paid in the presence of his family and his agent Aitor Banda.
In his speech, García said it would be a “great honor” to represent the Pagès region on the world stage if selected for Spain’s squad for the World Cup in the US, Canada and Mexico, which starts next June.
The Barcelona goalkeeper, who will soon be crowned with the Zamora award as La Liga’s best goalkeeper, added that he will follow with “great interest” the list that coach Luis de la Fuente will announce on Monday.

Although De La Fuente confirmed that he had selected just three goalkeepers and not four, Garcia entered the competition reckoning strongly after an exceptional season in which he was one of Barcelona’s mainstays, winning the Spanish league and Supercopa titles.
So far, Unai Simeone of Athletic Bilbao, David Raya of Arsenal and Alex Remiro of Real Sociedad are seen as the closest options, but Garcia’s brilliance with Barcelona and recent international performances give him a real chance to topple one of them.
