The Algerian legend’s first comment since the World Cup debacle
Algerian legend Rabah Majer has opened fire on Switzerland’s head coach Vladimir Petkovic in the 32nd round today, Friday dawn, after Switzerland’s stunner (0-2) from the 2026 World Cup finals.
Majer said during the “Nadine” program. “Algeria’s elimination was deserved, we didn’t offer anything against Switzerland, who proved their superiority over us and they could have won with a bigger result.”
He added: “We suffered from a lot of indiscretions, but the manager went into the game with the wrong formation, withdrawing some players and using the young player Ibrahim Matzah as a false striker, a position that is far from his capabilities.”
He continued. “Petkovic made some disastrous decisions that destroyed the Algerian players on a mental level and from my point of view the loss is deserved.”
He concluded. “Preparation for this round was generally not good. Some said it would be easy to play against Switzerland and qualification would be guaranteed, but I have previously denounced these problems as having no basis in the football dictionary.”
