With weeks to go before the start of the 2026 World Cup, Ghana is racing against time to prepare to face one of the toughest groups in the tournament, which includes England, Croatia and Panama, with a new coaching staff headed by Portugal’s Carlos Queiroz, alongside one of the most experienced goalkeeper coaches in world football, the American-Portuguese.
Gaspard, who is 70, has a coaching career spanning more than 30 years, which has seen him work in various countries and coach alongside Queiroz at major teams such as Portugal, Iran and South Africa. He also had notable spells with giant clubs, notably Porto and Benfica. He is now preparing for the third World Cup of his career, having previously appeared twice with Portugal in 2010.
