Queen’s 2026: Prize money for women’s events to increase by 35%


Minimum prize money levels are set by the ATP and WTA tours themselves, and there are long differences between what comparable, individual men’s and women’s tournaments can attract.

The women’s event in Charleston, which was played on the green in early April, offered a total of $2.5 million in compensation. This matched the minimum sum required in an ATP 500 event.

Charleston’s tournament owner is American billionaire Ben Navarro – father of 2024 US Open semi-finalist Emma.

The LTA says more than 90% of tickets have been sold so far for the women’s event in Queens, which starts on June 8.

Meanwhile, prize money for women at the WTA 250 event in Eastbourne the week before Wimbledon will rise by 28% to $499,000 (£373,000).
