Queen’s 2026: Corentin Mouttet fined by ATP after swearing seven times in BBC interview

After swearing seven times in a live BBC television interview in Queens, Corentin Moutet said he “hope you’re not offended”.

France’s Mautet was interviewed on court after defeating compatriot Giovanni Mpetschi Pericard 6-7 (5-7) 6-4 7-6 (7-5) in the first round over two days in London.

He first used an expletive to describe how he felt when Mpetshi Perricard saved match point with a 142mph second serve.

When presenter Jenny Drummond asked him not to repeat it, Moutet said it three more times.

Drummond apologized for the language but the 27-year-old swore three times again as he tried to continue the interview and it was eventually cut short.

Presenter Claire Balding also later apologized for the language.

In response to a censored clip of the incident on Instagram, Moutet wrote: “I was just joking, hope you guys didn’t get offended. Thanks for the love.”

World No. 36 Moutet could be fined by the ATP Tour for the outburst.

Mouette had previously been punished by the men’s tour and his national federation for his conduct.

He was defaulted from the 2022 Adelaide International for taking the umpire’s oath after losing the second set against Serbia’s Laszlo Djer.

The French Tennis Federation (FFT) also expelled him in November of that year – meaning he lost its financial support – due to his behaviour.

“We cannot condone this type of behaviour. We ask our players and coaches for an exemplary attitude,” the FFT said at the time.
