Hani Said blames Arbitrage for losing two points to Ceramica
Pyramids Club Sporting Director Hany Saeed launched a vicious attack on the team’s refereeing staff in yesterday’s Tuesday (1-1) draw against Ceramica Cleopatra led by referee Mahmoud Bassoun in the sixth round of the Egyptian League crowning stage.
Saeed held the referee responsible for Pyramids dropping two points in the league title race with polesitters Zamalek and Al-Ahly.He condemned the “serious mistakes” that happened during the meeting, as he described it.
Hani Said explained in official statements that the referee had ignored a clear penalty kick in favor of Pyramids after a tackle in the penalty area, and although the VAR referees asked the referee to go back and review the play, he refused to watch it and decided on his own that it was not a penalty.
Pyramid’s second disallowed goal, scored by Ahmed Sami, raised serious doubts about the validity of the refereeing team’s decision, as the video referees’ lines confirming it was a valid goal contradicted their decision, and the TV replay may not have been ruled offside, denying the Pyramids the win.
“The Pyramids don’t object for the sake of objecting, but in order not to waste their right and a whole season’s effort, everyone stood by the team’s decision to disallow their striker Feston Majili’s goal for the club because it was offside, and we didn’t object at all.”
Hani Said said in his statements. “The referee awarded a goal to Ceramics during the game due to a clear foul by a Ceramics player after elbowing Muhannad Lashin in the face.
The sporting director of Pyramids expressed his surprise at the appointment of an unknown video refereeing team for a crucial game in the league.
Hani Saeed concluded his statements by stressing the same issue. “Why isn’t there a review of doubt in favor of Pyramid in all recent matches and is there a tendency by the referees against the club not to review VAR in Pyramids games except against their rivals?”
Notably, Pyramids have 51 points in second place, two points behind leaders Zamalek, and in the last round Team Sky need to beat Smouha and Al-Abyad lose to Ceramica to officially win the league title for the first time in their history.
