The test results reassure Arbeloa… and the French striker is taking part in training
Real Madrid’s technical staff, led by Alvaro Arbeloa, has settled the position of star player Kylian Mbappe for the El Clasico match against Barcelona after days of uncertainty due to injury.
Real Madrid will host Barcelona in the 35th round of the Spanish league at the Camp Nou on Spotify and will be aiming for a win to put off their rivals’ celebrations, as any other result means the Catalan side have won the title.
Mbappe’s participation in El Clasico has been uncertain over the past few days following the injury he suffered 13 days ago against Real Betis at La Cartujah Stadium when, after a strong start, he felt discomfort in his left calf muscle and asked to be substituted nine minutes before the final whistle.
The injury initially appeared to be minor, but it kept him out of the Espanyol game, raising doubts about his peak, especially as the Frenchman did not take part in training yesterday, Wednesday, andA decision on his position has reportedly been delayed until Thursday.
AS newspaper reported today that there is optimism at Real Madrid after Mbappe underwent a medical as X-rays did not show a muscle tear but simply muscle fatigue which has improved significantly.
He added that the forward took part in group training today, and although his participation in the El Clasico starting lineup seems unlikely, he is close to being on the bench.
He noted that Mbappé is not yet fully fit, but his recovery is going well, and the real problem is the lack of time, as El Clasico is only 3 days away, which limits his chances of joining the starting line-up.
In Mbappe’s absence, the atmosphere at Real Madrid has been tense, especially after the player traveled to Italy with his partner at a time when the team is going through a very sensitive phase as it prepares for a match that could decide the league race and open the door to a possible ‘corridor of honor’ at the Camp Nou.
Mbappe’s trip has sparked a lot of controversy, not only because he was away from his teammates at a sensitive time, but also because he made the trip while recovering from injury.
As for the other injured, the most prominent developments concern Ferland Mendy, who is now a candidate for surgery next Monday in France, if there are no changes in the coming days, after a new muscle weakness, “Marca” newspaper writes.
In a statement, Real Madrid explained that the players began training in the gym before moving onto the pitch, where they went through ‘rondo’ drills and possession drills, followed by tactical work, before finishing with drills to finish attacks and shoot at goal.
