The end of the German coach’s journey through the castle of trophies

German coach Matthias Jesse has submitted his resignation to the management of his Saudi club Al-Ahly, emphasizing his desire to take on a new challenge next season.

The Saudi Sports newspaper, according to its sources on its official “X” page, reported that Mathias Jassel resigned from the leadership of “Al-Ahly”, expressing his desire to go to Europe.

Jaisal is considered one of the contenders to lead Newcastle United in the new season, after the sudden departure of their coach, Eddie Howe.

The Athletic newspaper revealed on Thursday that Eddie Howe has decided to step down from his post in the coming days. After 5 years, he headed the technical staff of McBays, although he expressed his desire to continue after the end of the previous season.

According to the report, the 48-year-old English coach has informed the club’s management of his desire to take a break from football for some time, which has been agreed amicably, while Newcastle’s management has already prepared a plan for his departure.

Media reports indicate that talks between Newcastle and Al-Ahly’s German technical director Matthias Jeisse have reached an advanced stage in preparation for him to take over technical responsibility for the English side.

Yaisla, 38, is considered one of the most popular emerging coaches after he led Al-Ahly to the AFC Elite Champions League titles in 2025 and 2026.

Prior to his experience with Al-Ahly, the German coach made his name at Red Bull Salzburg, where he led the team to two consecutive Austrian league titles, in addition to the Austrian Cup, before moving to the Saudi club in 2023, with whom he managed to establish an attacking style based on high pressure.
