Players vs Grand Slams: Aryna Sabalenka says top players ‘at some point’ will skip majors for prize money.

Poland’s Swiatek said she would prefer continued dialogue and negotiations with the majors rather than a boycott.

“I think the most important thing is to have a proper communication and dialogue with the governing bodies so we have some room to talk and maybe negotiate,” said the Wimbledon champion.

“We hope there will be an opportunity to have such meetings before Roland Garros and we will see how they go.

But dropping the competition is a bit extreme.

“I think we as players are here to play as individuals, to compete with each other.

“So it’s hard for me to say how it’s going to work, even in the picture. I haven’t heard anything yet.”

Australian Open champion Rybakina added: “I honestly don’t know. If the masses say they’re against a boycott, of course I’m ready for that. It’s not the case.”

World No. 5 Jessica Pegula has been a supporter of the players’ campaign, but revealed she was on strike in a BBC Sport interview at Indian Wells in March.

“We love playing the Slams – I don’t think anyone beats them at the Slams,” the American said.

“I think we’re just asking for what we think we’re entitled to, but I think if the men and women come together — that’s who we are on that front — and we keep pushing, there’s nothing wrong with just asking for what we think is right.”
