“For more than three decades, these organizations have played an important role in protecting Palestinian children, including through Israeli military courts, and documenting violations against Palestinian children at the hands of the Israeli military,” the committee said.
“Without them, Palestinian children are not protected, and violations of their rights continue with impunity,” it added.
Issued by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), the statement stated that the methods used to target these human rights organizations include “military attacks, travel restrictions, personal sanctions, threats of arrest, destruction of reputations, and threats of secondary punishments against colleagues who support their work”.
The committee said this made it “less difficult for these agencies to operate safely or to protect the children and families who come to them for help”.
The committee urged the international community to hold Israeli officials accountable for the Palestinian human rights struggle.
It urged Israeli authorities to lift restrictions on individuals and humanitarian groups.
“Despite high risks and limited resources, children’s rights activists continue to stand with Palestinian children and families in extremely dangerous situations. They deserve to be protected, not punished,” the committee said.
Israel has severely disrupted humanitarian operations in Gaza since the “ceasefire” that began on October 10, ban Doctors Without Borderswhich is known by its French name MSF, after failing to provide a list of its Palestinian workers, again denying life-saving aid to Palestinians in the besieged camp.
In February this year, 17 international aid groups petitioned Israel’s Supreme Court to be allowed to continue operating in the area. Gaza Strip and other areas in the occupied Palestinian territory. The Israeli government has planned to stop their life-saving work.
