Pakistan’s Fatima Sana broke the world record in the women’s T20 cricket tournament with a 15-ball 50 against Zimbabwe.
Playing at home at the National Stadium in Karachi, the winners scored a total of 62 runs off 19 balls as Pakistan thrashed the visitors by 133 runs to seal the score 3-0.
Sana broke the 18-ball century record held by New Zealand’s Sophie Devine, Australia’s Phoebe Litchfield and India’s Richa Ghosh.
The all-rounder got loose in his first game, scoring a boundary, as Pakistan opted to bat first. Hitting 10 fours and two sixes, he split Zimbabwe’s pace attack in an innings that was played at a rate of 326.
Sana, who was named player of the match, helped Pakistan post 223-4 in 20 overs and took one wicket as Zimbabwe were bowled out for 90 runs in 17.1 overs.
Sana has been a popular batsman for Pakistan over the past few years and has improved his batting tremendously since becoming the captain.
The 24-year-old also scored in the World Cup finals for South Africa in two one-dayers.
The Karachi-born batsman has taken 18 wickets and scored 283 runs in his last 10 matches in limited-overs cricket.
