Pakistan launched a heavy attack on the Afghan border.


Kabul, for its part, has previously accused Islamabad of carrying out unprovoked attacks in which civilians have been killed – which it says Pakistan only targets militants.

The government of Pakistan and the Taliban have not independently confirmed the death toll in recent attacks.

The Afghan Taliban government said the attack targeted civilian homes, while Pakistan targeted militant hideouts in the Paktia, Pakitika and Kunar provinces of Afghanistan.

Taliban officials said the injured were in the village of Mandikel in Pakitika province.

Pakistan’s military said Sunday’s attack came a day after three members of Pakistan’s Sindh Rangers were killed at their headquarters. Three militants were also killed in the attack, and Pakistani officials said they had captured a fourth Afghan.

Jamaat al-Ahrar, a splinter group of the TPLF, claimed responsibility for Saturday’s attack.

Both the TTP – also known as the Pakistani Taliban – and Jamaat-ul-Ahrar are banned by Pakistan and the United Nations because of their involvement in past attacks.

Dozens of people have been killed in sporadic border clashes and airstrikes in recent months, officials from both countries said.
