Oura is introducing a new reproductive system that uses hormonal contraceptives while you’re on your period. The smart ring maker describes the Hormonal Birth Control update as “the first of its kind” within Oura’s existing Cycle Insights feature, allowing users to see how more than 20 types of hormonal birth control — including pills, patches, IUDs, and implants — might affect their entire biometric data.
The service will begin rolling out worldwide on May 6. It is designed to show how hormonal birth control can affect temperature, sleep, and recovery, and can help users track blood and symptoms over time. The same can be said to differentiate the way biometrics change hormone-free days – making it easier for users to know what a “normal” cycle should be for them, and to highlight any health concerns.
