OpenAI is reportedly launching a ChatGPT mobile app

OpenAI’s first product could be a phone instead of a wonderful Jony Ive instrument. As he said MacRumorsa research scientist Ming-Chi Kuo shared details about the rumored phone, saying that OpenAI is “fast tracking” and aims to start mass production as early as 2027.

According to Kuo, the phone will have a “standard (MediaTek) Dimensity 9600 system,” which is expected to launch this fall and follow the current Dimensity 9500 phones as Vivo X300 Pro and Oppo Find X9 Pro.

The “head” of the “head” of the chip will be its signal processor (ISP), which “will be a “HDR enhancement” that Kuo says will enable the phone to be able to perceive the real world. The OpenAI phone can also include LPDDR6 memory, UFS 5.0 storage, and “dual-NPU architecture” to use different types of AI calculations at the same time, such as language and vision.

Kuo also says that smartphones “combined for 2027-2028 could reach about 30 million units.” This would put OpenAI’s phone sales close to a Samsung’s brand identity – the lofty goal of the company’s first products.
