Marcus Rashford faces an uncertain future at Manchester United as the club look to offload his high wages following a successful season on loan at Barcelona, while the England international continues to look for the next step in his career.
Tottenham are set to sign the 28-year-old striker with an offer of up to £40m, with Rashford an ideal choice to bolster their front line under manager Roberto De Zerbe.
Rashford spent the last season on loan in “Barcelona”, where he scored 14 goals and made 10 assists, but did not receive a permanent contract.
The player’s future is still up in the air as United look to sell him to reduce his wages.
However, the main stumbling block is that Manchester United are refusing to sell the player to their local Premier League rivals, fearing he will return to his best against the club.
“Arsenal” and “Chelsea” are also mentioned among the clubs interested in the inclusion of Rashford, but the same situation applies to them, as reported by the website Cote Offside.
Tottenham, who finished 17th last season, are in need of strong reinforcements after signing Sandro Tonali, Mathieu Fernandez and Jean-Paul Van Hecke.
Rashford, who can play on the wing or as a forward, could be an immediate addition.
Rashford is currently opting for a move away from England, while Barcelona are monitoring his situation amid limited interest from Turkish clubs, which the player did not welcome. According to the same source, “United” may have to soften its position if there are no suitable external offers.
