The Moroccan coach has been in charge of the Atlas Lions since last March
The Royal Moroccan Football Federation has decided to retain first team coach Mohamed Wehbe with the Atlas Lions after the 2026 World Cup bye in America, Canada and Mexico.
The Moroccan national team exited the 2026 World Cup in the quarter-finals after losing 2-0 to the French national team.
The official page of the Royal University of Morocco on the “X” website published a video of the president of the National League of Professional Football, Mr. Abdelsalam Belkashour, after the meeting of the directorate headed by Fouzi Lakkaa.
In his remarks, Belkhour said the match was an assessment of Morocco’s participation in the 2026 World Cup, as he believes the Atlas Lions have achieved an important achievement four years before they host the 2030 World Cup.
The president of the national league has denied some allegations of negligence or collusion against some players in the Moroccan national team during their World Cup quarter-final clash with France, stressing that they played heroically throughout the tournament.

Belkashour emphasized the restoration of confidence in Mohamed Wehbe to lead the Moroccan national team in the next round to dispel any doubts about his continuation in the position.
Webb took charge of the Moroccan national team last March, replacing former coach Walid Regraghi, guiding the Atlas Lions to the quarter-finals of the World Cup before suffering their only defeat against France.
