The issue is resolved
The appeals committee of the International Football Federation (FIFA) responded to the request submitted by the Belgian Football Association regarding the participation of the American Folarin Balogun in the match of the 16th round of the 2026 World Cup between the two teams.
The Belgian federation has opposed the decision to allow American striker Folarin Balogun to participate in the round of 16.despite being sent off in the previous match.
It came after US President Donald Trump revealed he had contacted FIFA president Gianni Infantino to demand a review of Balogun’s red card, stressing that the incident did not merit a dismissal and that the US national team should advance to the playoffs with its stars.
FIFA said. In an official statement“FIFA’s Appeals Committee has ruled inadmissible a request by the Belgian Federation regarding the FIFA Disciplinary Committee’s decision to suspend the one-year ban imposed on United States player Folarin Balogun following his straight red card against Bosnia and Herzegovina.”
He added: “FIFA Appeals Committee Chairman Neil Eggleston (of the USA) was not involved in this decision.”
He concluded. “The application was deemed inadmissible on the basis that the Belgian Federation is not a party to these procedures and therefore does not have the legal right to appeal the decision.”
