We have now entered the era of software conferences, and one of the themes so far is the constant conviction of Big Tech companies that AI will change everything about how we do everything. Nvidia’s Jensen Huang demonstrated this more clearly than anyone this week, when he explained a new way to use our laptop – and completely a new type of laptop it is designed to help. It’s a lot of fun, but it raises the same question we have around most AI products: Does anyone really want this?
Get started this part of The VergecastNilay and David go through a lot of things that come out of Microsoft Build and Google I / O, from Gemini Spark to where Nvidia RTX Spark to Microsoft Scout and SOLAR work. AI agents are everywhere, doing everything, and we don’t know how to react. Should we rethink our laptops, so they can run AI models? Or a “powerful laptop” enough to get the job done?
After that, it’s time for the Hype Desk, Brendan Carr and Dummy, our thoughts on WWDC, and a silly Meta hack.
