Klugman first rose to prominence at the age of 13 when he won the prestigious Orange Bowl Junior Championship in Florida. Past winners include world number seven Coco Gough and 18-time major singles winner Chris Evert.
In 2025, he became The first British in nearly 50 years Lily reached the French Open women’s final, losing in straight sets to Tagger.
She has competed in two Grand Slam women’s doubles finals, at Wimbledon in 2023 and at the 2025 Australian Open.
She made her WTA Tour main-draw debut in Nottingham last year and made her first Wimbledon appearance a few weeks later, losing both singles matches.
Klugman’s serve was particularly impressive against Dart, with the teenager hitting six taps with zero double faults and winning 77% of first-serve points.
After a strong first set, Klugman found himself down 4-2 in the second set, but reeled off four straight games to secure the victory.
The only Briton to reach the second round in Nottingham, Klugman will next face fourth seed Marie Bozkova.
Fellow Briton Alicia Dudeny, who also received a Wimbledon main draw wildcard, beat Ukraine’s Dayna Yastremska 6-4 7-6 (7-2).
