Thunder delay Three Lions campaign
Poor weather conditions delayed England’s arrival in Miami to prepare for their World Cup third-place match against France.
England were due to leave their Kansas City headquarters after their final training session this morning, arriving for a press conference with manager Thomas Tuchel and defender John Stones at 6.30pm at the Hard Rock Stadium.
According to the newspaper “The sun“British forecasts of thunderstorms between three and six in the evening in Miami forced the team to postpone their trip, so it was decided to move the meeting to 7:30pm Miami time, 12:30pm UK time if the weather improved.
Tomorrow’s match kicks off at 5pm Miami time, 10pm UK time amid expectations that no storms will reach the city with the possibility of a change in weather conditions.
It is not the first time England have been affected by the weather in North America, as a friendly against Costa Rica in Orlando was delayed by an hour on June 10 before winning 3-0.
The round of 16 tie against Mexico also saw widespread controversy after it was announced that bad weather in Mexico City would be delayed by eight hours until 8pm, before it was moved back to its original date after both teams complained to FIFA. Then its start was delayed for an extra hour due to a storm, and ended with a historic 3-2 victory for England.
The England team will return to their country next Sunday after playing the third place match against France.
Argentina, on the other hand, faced similar difficulties as Lionel Messi and his teammates’ mission in Atlanta was interrupted by thunderstorms, which could affect preparations for Sunday’s final against Spain.
