No one from Africa has done it. Saibari equals Salah’s World Cup tally

Saibari is the only Moroccan to score at the 2026 World Cup

Morocco star Ismail Saibari has achieved a remarkable feat after continuing to shine against Scotland at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The PSV Eindhoven star, who is close to a move to Bayern Munich, led the Atlas Lions to a valuable 1-0 win over Scotland in the second round of World Cup Group C earlier today.

Saibari’s goal came after he scored against Brazil in the opening round as the match ended in a 1-1 draw.

According to statistics from French network Statusfoot, Sibari became the first Moroccan player to score in his first two World Cup games and the second African player to do so after Egypt’s Mohamed Salah.

Salah shone in 2018, scoring against Russia in the second round of the group stage and Saudi Arabia in the third after missing the opener against Uruguay.

According to Mr. Shipp’s statistics, there are 97 players in the world who have scored in their first two World Cup games.

Apart from the Egyptian-Moroccan pair, 67 players from Europe, 23 from South America, 3 from CONCACAF and 2 from Asia have done so.
