Nintendo has announced a new Star Fox for Switch 2

It appears that Fox McCloud’s appearance in the Super Mario Galaxy Movie it was a joke about what’s to come: Nintendo suddenly announced something new Star Fox game in ten years. The game is called, simply, Star Foxand it’s out soon, launching on June 25.

Nintendo says it “adopted” the classic shooter Star Fox 64but it’s a redesigned and better looking font. Basically, it looks like a modern remake of a game with a similar design, as well Star Fox 64 it was for the original SNES. Based on the first look at the game, it looks modern, with detailed characters, including the amazing Slippy Frog. And yes, the barricade remains. In addition to flying ships, there will also be a few other transport vehicles, including a submarine.

The Star Fox The launch also includes new features, such as online play in its new four-on-four dog game, as well as the ability to play with a mouse. Perhaps the most surprising addition is the avatars that players can use when playing online. Nintendo describes the feature as “an interactive avatar that reflects your conversations and movements in GameChat.” But if you want to feel old school, the game supports the N64 controller.

The announcement comes as Nintendo has a limited list of Switch 2 for the entire year 2026. Outside of Star Fox, the only first-party titles on the schedule are. Yoshi is an Amazing Book, Rhythm Heaven Groove, Splatoon Raidersand Fire Symbol: Fortune’s Weave.
