Russian drones and missiles killed four people in Ukraine overnight, while Ukraine’s airstrikes on Russia and Russian-controlled areas in Ukraine killed five.

Three people were killed in a Russian attack on Ukraine’s central Dnipropetrovsk region overnight, including two on an “industrial business” in the city of Kryvyi Rih, authorities said on Sunday.

In the southern city of Kherson, a drone attack killed a 48-year-old man, Mayor Yaroslav Shanko said.

Russia has escalated in recent weeks, taking advantage of Ukraine’s severe shortage of Patriot air defense systems, which have made it unable to shoot down missiles flying at several times the speed of sound.

NATO countries pledged at their meeting in Ankara last week to provide more Patriot weapons to Ukraine, and President Donald Trump said he was ready to give Kyiv permission to manufacture US weapons in the country.

A prolonged airstrike by Ukrainian jets killed another person in Russia’s Samara region, officials said.
