Nigel Farage has officially denied Clacton’s resignation.

Farage said he was not sure if he would still be an MP, but shortly after the BBC interview, Chancellor Rachel Reeves said he had accepted his resignation.

“If he wanted to spend the summer arguing with Bean, he wouldn’t stop,” he said in X, referring to his re-election rival, Count Benface.

Actor-politician Laurence Fox, of nearby Pelden, has announced he will stand with Farage, Count Binface and Adham Alkhatip, who leads the Front Party on Tuesday night.

Asked what he had done for Clayton since becoming an MP, Farage said: “I’ve done everything I can to put him on the map through tourism and touring.”

“I know it’s a pain to get here, but when you get here, you have nice beaches.”

If re-elected, he has promised to prioritize boreholes and stop housing developments opposed by local residents.

“You gave me a big vote and we will continue our political revolution,” Farage continued.

“If you don’t do that, I think the establishment will continue and try to suppress a real chance for political change.”
