NFL Draft 2026: Winners and losers with Fernando Mendoza, Ty Simpson, Jets and Giants

You’ve got to hand it to the NFL for three days of names being read off the card in the second-biggest event on the league calendar.

A record 805,000 fans visited the three-day event in Pittsburgh, with a single-day attendance record of 320,000 for Thursday’s first round.

Only the Super Bowl is big, and even then it’s of serious interest to only two teams, but all 32 are involved in the draft for one common reason – hope.

The worst teams pick the best of college superstars and it gives them hope for a magical turnaround – and the NFL has been able to market it as a must-see experience.

Detroit hosted 775,000 fans in 2024, Green Bay had 600,000 last year, and both were topped by Pittsburgh.

Washington D.C. will be hoping for more next year and commissioner Roger Goodell revealed the cities lined up to win hosting duties in the coming years – with 10 representatives on a scouting trip to Pittsburgh this weekend.

The NFL draft looks set to get even bigger.
