NFL: Aaron Rodgers agrees to new one-year deal with Pittsburgh Steelers – report

Rodgers helped the Steelers reach the playoffs last season before being picked up by coach Mike Tomlin Completing his 19-year term.

Tomlin was replaced by Mike McCarthy, who was the head coach for most of Rodgers’ 18 years with the Green Bay Packers, and they won one Super Bowl together.

After leaving the Packers for the New York Jets in 2023, Rodgers suffered a torn Achilles in his debut – sidelining him for the rest of the season. He was then released after a disappointing second season in New York.

Rodgers isn’t as mobile as he used to be and missed one game for Pittsburgh in 2025 with a broken wrist.

But, despite an inconsistent season for the Steelers, he managed to lead them to a 10-7 record and their first AFC North title since 2020, before being swept by the Houston Texans the following season.

With his future still unclear, Pittsburgh added a quarterback in the NFL Draft in April. Selecting Drew Allar in the third round, and the Steelers could develop him or select 2025 draft pick Will Howard as Rodgers’ potential successor.
