Does the crisis affect the dream of the World Cup?
Brazil’s Santos training camp witnessed an unfortunate incident involving star player Neymar, who has been embroiled in a major crisis that threatens his reputation weeks before the World Cup.
Neymar is trying to convince Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti to include him in the national team’s squad for the World Cup, but the incident could affect his campaign.
As reported by the Globo Sport network, Neymar got into an argument with Robinho Junior (18 years old), which ended in a fist fight, where the former Barcelona player punched his young colleague.
The young player is the son of former Brazilian star Robinho, who has played for several clubs, notably Santos, Real Madrid, Manchester City and AC Milan.
The club has remained silent since the incident, trying to overcome one of the most difficult moments of the season, but the investigation is still ongoing.
The incident happened after Robinho avoided his team-mate Neymar, who felt angry and hurt by the incident, and Robinho asked him to calm down.
After the veteran player reprimanded his young teammate, the two began arguing and a verbal altercation ensued, with Neymar tensing up and knocking Robinho to the ground, according to Globo Sport.
He added: Sources who were present at the training session reveal that they “saw the number 10 (Neyyar) slap Robinho Junior”.
The club reacted immediately by removing the players from the squad after training in an attempt to mediate, with those close to Robinho even contacting club president Marcelo Teixeira to express their displeasure and file the necessary complaint.
Sources informed AS newspaper that Neymar accepted his mistake and apologized to Robinho Jr.
According to reports, the problem has been solved despite all the fuss.
Neymar and Robinho Jr maintain a close, almost paternal relationship, knowing it was an isolated incident that should not have further consequences.
Santos are now out of the question as Neymar has been named in the squad for next Wednesday’s Copa Sudamericana clash against Recoleta in Paraguay.
