Yesterday, Tuesday, Madame Tussauds Berlin unveiled the first-of-its-kind wax statue of Spanish star Lamine Yamal, a Barcelona player, as it is believed to be the first museum-produced statue to include props to commemorate his exceptional achievements with Spain at the 2024 European Championship.
Madame Tussauds in Berlin said in an official statement that the idea for the statue came after Yamal’s huge success at the 2024 European Championships, and the process of making it took almost a year, requiring precise measurements that took 4 hours in Barcelona.
I was so happy
Lamin Yamal expressed his great excitement after learning about the project, saying: “After the European Championship, after the boom, I was told that I would get a wax statue, and I was very happy. After all, I always saw people with similar figures on TikTok, and I really wanted to have one like them.”
The statue depicts the player in a Spanish national team shirt doing the special ‘304’ hand motion that has become his trademark when celebrating his goals.
A celebration inspired by the neighborhood
Yamal revealed the secret behind his famous celebration, explaining: “Yes, I will list my road (304), which is actually the last three numbers of the postcode in my Rocafunda neighborhood, which people often know me by.”
At Lamin’s special request, the statue was placed in the museum’s football area next to a statue of Argentine legend Lionel Messi, making a symbolic reference to the famous childhood photo he took with Messi in the bathroom in 2007.
Next to the legends
Yamal’s statue shares space with an elite group of international soccer stars, including German player Jamal Musiala, French star Kylian Mbappe and German legend Franz Beckenbauer.
With this opening, just days before the start of the 2026 World Cup, Lamine Yamal joins the museum’s historic collection alongside prominent international figures such as scientist Albert Einstein, superstar Marilyn Monroe and legendary runner Jesse Owens.
I hope he’s a lot like me
The Spanish striker shared a video message with his fans, saying: “Hi, I’m Lamine Yamal and they’re making a wax statue of me at Madame Tussauds in Berlin. I hope he’s a lot like me and I really love him and I can’t wait to see him.”
A historic achievement at a young age
This honor is an exceptional achievement for a player aged just 18, who became the youngest player to score in the history of the European Championship and also played a decisive role in Spain’s 2024 continental title.
Yamal gained a wide international reputation for his exceptional technical skills, speed and ability to make changes, making him one of the most popular young talents in world football.
