Today, the biggest review of its kind in the history of the NHS has found major failings in maternity care at a hospital trust in Nottingham. The report found that hundreds of children and mothers had died or been injured as a result of “systematic failures at the root of the system”. Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust bosses have apologized and the health secretary said the government would respond by taking “immediate action”.
