Today, secondary school students in England will be offered more technical subjects as part of education reforms led by the new Prime Minister. Courses offered from Year 10 are linked to local industries to give children a clearer career path. Andy Burnham says he is keen to strengthen the link between education and the workplace and these reforms will come alongside a new support scheme which aims to remove financial barriers to apprenticeships. Adam discusses the reforms and whether they can achieve their aims with Justine Greening, former education secretary and founder of the Coalition for Purpose, which aims to improve social mobility, and Sean Chon, producer at FE Week. In addition, Adam catches up with By-Electioncast veterans Sarah Lester, Manchester Evening News presenter and Radio Manchester political correspondent Kevin Fitzpatrick to discuss the Manchester mayoral election that goes to the polls on Thursday.
