Newscast – Andy Burnham stopped his early release from prison

Available for over a year.

Today, Prime Minister Andy Burnham announced that no prisoners would be released unless an ‘urgent review’ was carried out. The announcement came after PC Andrew Harper’s widow described the possible early release of the prisoners as ‘tragic’, following reports that two of the killers could be released early. Adam is joined by Dominic Cassiani, Home and Law Correspondent, to discuss what this means for the prison system. Also, in his third policy announcement in as many days, Andy Burnham announced a 20% reduction in business rates for pubs, clubs and live music venues in England from April. Institute for Fiscal Studies Director Helen Miller and BBC Business Editor Simon Jack join Adam to discuss how the government plans to fund these cuts and how the ever-changing taxes will affect business owners.
