Today, the family of the teenage rapist who survived the attack said they hoped the “right result would prevail” — after it was announced the sentence would go to the Court of Appeal. There has been widespread criticism after three boys were given youth rehabilitation orders in connection with the rape of two teenage girls in Hampshire. The Sentencing Guidelines state that priority should be given to the rehabilitation of young offenders. The Prime Minister confirmed on Tuesday that the sentence will now go to the Court of Appeal. Iran says the United States has committed a “serious violation” of the ceasefire with new airstrikes against the country in the past 48 hours.
