Press reports have revealed the real reasons that made German Matthias Jaisse, the coach of Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ahly team, decide to leave his management in the near future.
Press reports have confirmed that Yasla has resigned from coaching Al-AhlyToday, Thursday, to take charge of Newcastle United next season, replacing their former manager Eddie Howe.
Saudi Al-Riyadiya newspaper He confirmed that Yaisla’s departure was not only due to an offer to the Newcastle manager, but also due to a dispute over the extension of his contract, which expires at the end of next season with Al-Ahly.
The newspaper explained that the German coach wanted to put a clause in the new contract, with the agreement that he would receive the full value of the contract if he was removed from his position, while agreeing not to increase his salary.
The Saudi club rejected this clause as they claimed that the penalty clause was only worth 6 months, especially as the new contract was set to be extended for the next 4 years until 2030, meaning it would be worth over 150 million Saudi Riyals.
Al-Ahly tried to reach an agreement at a meeting at the end of Al-Ahly’s foreign camp in Portugal, in the presence of sporting director Rui Pedro, but it did not happen, so Yaisla decided to resign on his return to Saudi Arabia without accompanying the team to Jeddah.
Notably, Yaisla has been leading Al-Ahly since 2023 and has managed to win the elite AFC Champions League title for two consecutive seasons, as well as the Saudi Arabian Super Cup title with them after a 9-year absence.
