Continued pressure from Catalonia
Despite Atletico Madrid’s commitment to refusing to let go of one of their biggest stars, reports from Barcelona continue to heat up the case for Argentine striker Julian Alvarez as speculation continues over his future in the summer transfer window.
“Barcelona” midfielder Xavi expressed his clear desire to see Alvarez in the shirt of the Catalan team, stressing that he would welcome the “Atletico” Madrid striker to join the Spotify Camp Nou stadium.
Jaffe said in statements to the newspaper Mundo Deportivo:In response to the possibility of Alvarez moving to “Barcelona”. “I hope so. We’ll see what he decides about his future, but of course I’d like him to be with us. Besides, this is his dream.”
The statements of the Spanish football player come to intensify the controversy surrounding the future of the Argentinian forward, whose name has recently been linked with the possibility of moving to “Barcelona”.
Xavi was not the first Barcelona player to express his desire to complete the deal, having been preceded by Lamine Yamal, who had previously confirmed that he would welcome Alvarez to join the team.

Marc Bernal, Pedri and goalkeeper Juan Garcia have also hinted at their desire to see the Argentine forward in a Barcelona shirt next season.
Speculation has increased following Alvarez’s previous statements in which he expressed his desire to leave Atletico Madrid to pursue his “dream”, without directly mentioning Barcelona.
Despite this, Madrid “Atletico” continues to adhere to its position, stressing that the 26-year-old Argentine attacker is not for sale in the current transfer period.
The management of the Madrid club has confirmed that the only option to sign a contract with Alvarez is to pay the price of the release clause in his contract, 500 million euros.
Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid filed complaints with FIFA and the Spanish Federation, accusing Barcelona of trying to negotiate illegally with the player. So the deal looks complicated at the moment, with any potential development dependent on Atletico Madrid changing their stance, which current figures do not suggest.
