Ben Earl has called for changes to the Nations Championship format after England’s “brutal” schedule in the summer phase of the inaugural competition.
England had to play three Tests on three different continents on consecutive weekends and travel 25,000 miles.
Victory over Argentina on Saturday keeps Steve Borthwick’s side in the hunt for a place in the final at Twickenham’s Allianz Stadium on November 29.
However, four long-haul and four short-haul flights over the past four weeks have contributed to the players losing sleep and curtailing the training schedule.
“It was brutal, there’s no two ways about it,” said the 8th Earl of England.
“We’ve been talking about it – why don’t we all play in one country? So you don’t just travel, you go to a country and experience that festival.
“I wasn’t paid to make those decisions but it was tough. It was tough coming to the end of a long season for most of us anyway.
“It’s been over and over again, coming back to England, seeing your families and then leaving again.
“It seems a bit strange but it’s something we have to get used to because I think it’s just the beginning.”
The competition resumes for the autumn leg with England next in action against Australia on 8 November.
