NASA will wear Prada long johns to the Moon in style

We’ve seen Axiom Space’s collaboration with Prada on Axiom Extravehicular Mobility Unit (AxEMU) spacesuit. Now the company has unveiled its Liquid Cooling and Ventilation Jacket (Image of LCVG) that astronauts will wear under it Artemis IV returns people to Moon in 2028.

The LCVG is the most important component that keeps the crew cool and comfortable inside the AxEMU and during space travel. Cold water is circulated through tubes placed in the suit to remove heat from the astronaut’s body. And, if the original system fails, there is a backup, unlike the old cold suits. The LCVG is equipped with a ventilation system that supplies fresh air to the AxEMU helmet and directs the CO2 gas to the scrubber for recirculation.

The partnership between Axiom Space and Prada is not the first time that NASA has been involved in a project that combines advanced technology with advanced design and manufacturing. It also provided financial assistance BioSuit a concept developed by MIT professor Dava Newman with the help of well-known experts Guillermo Trotti.
