Mr. Blobby’s clothes sold in Bristol for £8,500

The costume sold Monday was specifically used for work outside the television studio and for stunt work, while other original costumes were designed strictly for the studios.

Also featured on Mr Blobby VHS home video releases.

Stowe added: “We’re blown away by the interest in this sale.

“People love nostalgia. Imagine walking into someone’s house and seeing Mr. Blobby around the corner. That’s the ultimate talking point.”

“It’s an absolute joy to find and sell these amazing pieces of pop culture history.

“In my job, one day it’s fine art and shiny jewelry; the next it’s Mr. Blobby.”

After appearing at Noel’s house party, the messy, bright pink and yellow-speckled character became a national and cultural phenomenon called Blobby-mania.

It was the centerpiece of the Blobbyland theme park at Cricket St Thomas in Somerset – and in 1993 it even won the UK Christmas number one spot from Mr Blobby himself.

The outfit was originally owned by the late Mickey Wills, former head of entertainment at Blobbyland, who put on high-energy shows at the theme park every day.
