The Royals are running strong on the Mercato
Through his Gestifute agency, Jorge Mendes has become one of the most influential figures in Spanish football. His extensive network of relationships and his historical relationships with major clubs allow him to intervene decisively in purchase, renewal and sale operations affecting Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atlético.
As reported by the Catalan newspaper Sport, the arrival of Jose Mourinho strengthened the relationship between Real Madrid president Florentino Perez and Jorge Mendes, which had fallen apart since Cristiano Ronaldo left Merengue.

A recent strategic meeting brought together Mourinho, Mendes, Jose Angel Sanchez and Johnny Calafat to plan the 2026-27 campaign.
During this meeting, the Portuguese agent became the key figure in the formation of the new sports project of “Real Madrid”, reports the Catalan newspaper. Mourinho is said to have asked for several Portuguese players such as Bernardo Silva, Ruben Diaz, Mateus Núñez and Mateus Fernandez.
Mendes also maintains an important role with Barcelona, as he is currently involved in the negotiations for Ansu Fati’s move to Monaco, and his influence could be decisive in the potential sale of Marc Casado. The Portuguese agent also owns the interests of several Barca players, most notably Lamine Yamal.
Historically, Mendes has enjoyed a good relationship with Atletico Madrid, but the way the Bernardo Silva deal ended could cause some tension. Despite this, Mendesh continues to be the club’s permanent mediator, reports “Sport”.
Notably, Bernardo has changed his destination to Real Madrid, where he is close to officially joining this summer, although he was earlier set to join Atletico.
