Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Patrice Motsepe has revealed CAF’s position on the expected decision on the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title crisis, stressing that the matter is entirely in the hands of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
Motsepe told a press conference in Johannesburg today, Wednesday, that CAF is awaiting a final decision from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on the identity of the African Cup of Nations champion, stressing that the federation has no right to take any action until the ruling.
He added: “We are waiting for the final decision of the CAS court on the winner of the Africa Cup of Nations. We have nothing to do. We are waiting for the decisions and will apply them to everyone.”

African football circles are awaiting a final CAS decision to decide the 2025 African Cup of Nations title dispute, after the African Union’s appeals committee overturned the first division decision and awarded the title to Morocco with a legal 3-0 win over Senegal last March.
The decision came as Teranga Lions players walked off the pitch during extra time in the final to protest a penalty against Morocco.
Senegal’s federation later rejected the decision as unfair, before appealing it to CAS.
