Mother charged with child’s hair dryer death

A mother has been found guilty of killing her baby due to the heat of a hair dryer.

Courtney Gartshore, 28, denied murdering her three-month-old daughter, Dahlia-Rose, who was in her care in September 2023 in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire.

The baby’s DNA was found on the hairdryer but an expert told Aberdeen High Court she may have died before she was set on fire.

Jurors took more than an hour to return a guilty verdict on the seventh day of the trial.
