Morocco’s Assad doesn’t mind… The Latin team heads to Regraghi

Walid Regraghi has become a candidate to coach the national team of Ecuador, as the former coach of the Moroccan national team shows interest in having his first coaching experience in South America.

And I mentioned Africa Football Network Citing Ecuadorian press reports, Regragi is among the names being explored by the Ecuadorian federation to replace Sebastian Becasese as coach of the first national team.

Ecuador reached the round of 32 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup before being eliminated by Mexico.

According to reports, those close to Regraghi have told interested parties that he is ready to take over the leadership of the Ecuadorian national team, provided that the negotiations between the two parties proceed to his satisfaction.

Regraghi is not the only notable name on the Ecuadorian federation’s roster, which also includes Portugal’s Paulo Bentu, Argentina’s Marcelo Gallardo and Eduardo Dominguez, in addition to Spanish coaches Miguel Angel Ramirez and Robert Moreno.

Ecuador’s federation aims to appoint a new coach by the second week of next month to give him enough time to prepare for the international breaks in September, October and November.
