Gianni Infantino looks set to settle the race for the FIFA presidency early as he enjoys overwhelming support ahead of the 2027 election in which he is seeking a fourth term.
reports a newspaper “Guardian” The British newspaper notes that Infantino, who has been FIFA president since 2016, already enjoys the official support of more than 200 national federations, out of the 211 member federations of the International Federation, while a small number of federations are still hesitant to declare their support.

Several European federations are among the parties undecided, including the German Football Association, which has not officially backed Infantino.
Some federations also believe they are under constant pressure from FIFA to declare their allegiance, which the paper says is against the International Federation’s code of ethics.
Despite this limited number of vacillating federations, Infantino’s re-election at the FIFA conference scheduled for March 2027 seems almost a done deal, especially in light of the lack of real competition so far, according to the paper. “L’Equipe” French.
Nominations are still open until November 18, but no candidate has yet announced a serious desire to run.
Also, the criticism Infantino has faced over his close relationship with US President Donald Trump, which escalated after the controversy surrounding the overturning of Folarin Balogun’s suspension at the World Cup, does not appear to have affected the level of support for the Swiss official in the corridors of the international federation.
