Modric is carving his name with an unprecedented World Cup achievement

Croatian football player Luka Modric entered the World Cup finals from the widest gates in history.

Modric scored his country’s winning goal against Ghana at the end of the group stage in Croatia’s 2-1 win.

The result was a 1-1 draw when Modric took a corner kick in the 83rd minute, sending in a brilliant cross that found the head of Nikola Vlasic, who headed the ball into the net for Croatia’s winning goal.

Statistics network Opta reported that at the age of 40 years and 291 days, Modric became the oldest player to score a goal in World Cup history.
