“Milan” signed a historic deal

At Ramos’ request

AC Milan have completed a historic €70m deal to sign Portuguese striker Gonzalo Ramos in the Rossoneri’s biggest-ever signing to fulfill the wishes of new manager Ruben Amorim ahead of the start of the summer transfer window.

Spanish newspaper AS says AC Milan outbid all rivals, including Atletico Madrid, thanks to the influence of powerful business agent Jorge Mendes and his strong relationship with Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, which helped complete the deal in record speed.

Sources close to the negotiations revealed that Ramos, who spent three seasons in the French capital, underwent a medical in Florida, where he is currently participating in the 2026 World Cup with the Portuguese national team, preparing to sign a 4-year contract with a net salary of 4 million euros per year.

Amorim’s arrival on the Milan bench is seen as a decisive factor in completing the deal, with the Portuguese manager putting compatriot Ramos at the top of his list of priorities to bolster an attack that suffered last season.

The presence of Redbird Group founder and club owner Jerry Cardinale in Milan today, Saturday, also played a key role in speeding up negotiations in the final hours and convincing the player to join despite the Rossoneri’s absence from next season’s Champions League.

The deal opens the door for the possible departure of some current stars, most notably Mexican forward Santiago Jimenez, as part of a team rebuild in line with Amorim’s artistic vision.
