Microsoft’s Surface Laptop Ultra is seen as its first MacBook Pro competitor

Dell, Asus, Lenovo, HP, MSI, Acer, and Gigabyte are some of the PC manufacturers that are making peripherals. Nvidia’s RTX SparkNvidia’s new Arm chip for Windows PC. But the flagship RTX Spark PC could be from the same company that makes Windows: new Microsoft Surface Laptop Ultra and a an advanced RTX Spark system which will provide up to 128GB of shared memory for “designers, developers, and AI developers.”

Microsoft says the Laptop Ultra will be available “later this year” but did not discuss pricing or specifications.

The Laptop Ultra will be the top of the range Qualcomm Snapdragon Laptops in Microsoft’s line. Microsoft has made high-end Surface devices with more powerful CPUs and GPUs in the past, but until now, it said also come up with a flexible design that may have reduced their appeal. The first one was old Surface Bookwith a retractable window and a curved hinge that didn’t close all the way; the second was and Surface Laptop Studiowith its chunky design and sliding screen. The Laptop Ultra is Microsoft’s first attempt to follow the MacBook Pro formula: it’s like another Surface Laptop, with more power.

Microsoft says the Laptop Ultra will include USB-A, USB-C, and HDMI ports, as well as an SD card slot and headphone jack. They say they include a haptic trackpad that is “the largest we’ve ever put on a Surface.” The 15-inch PixelSense display offers more than 2,000 luminance.
