This does not mean that a well-organized qubit was stable. In the end, one of the mistakes made could no longer be made because many of its atoms changed at the same time. But normal debugging can save some of the clearest lines up to 90 lines.
Again, this is not enough for any type of calculation. But it is much closer than it was before the company used this method.
EeroQ is a startup and a different way of qubits. Several companies are looking to use the spins of electrons as their qubits, mainly because it is easy to make chips that can manipulate electrons into quantum dots. EeroQ is developing its chips with many small reservoirs that can hold a drop of liquid helium. Once an electron is placed on that droplet, it has nowhere to go because helium hates to carry an extra electron. Therefore, only the electron floats to the surface.
Which is great, but it was already established before the company started. The problem was that no one had found a way to interact with the electron in a practical way.
Recently, the company he took out a scroll describing a new version of his chip, one with a small connector near a helium-filled reservoir. They showed that this light can be connected to the flow of electrons, which are kept from hitting the walls of the pool with electricity. Since the electron movement is calculated, the resonator takes one or two components during the experiment, which is the construction of the qubit.
Again, it’s not about having the right computer hardware. But again, it is this extra work that is needed if any technology is to live up to its promise.
