Michael Barrymore worries about recording TikTok videos on smart glasses

The shopkeeper’s opinion comes from A The ongoing debate about the use of modern glassesSeveral million pairs have been made and sold by some of the world’s biggest tech companies in recent years.

Meta Ray-Bans are currently the most popular on the market and are estimated to account for over 80% of AI or smart glasses sales. But their increased use has led to security concerns.

A retail worker who served Barrymore told the BBC: “Personally, I’m not unduly worried because I don’t have any particular reason to be unduly worried.

“But I’ve seen situations where you’re very anxious. Let’s say I’ve come out of a very abusive relationship. Especially when people have to move around to get away from someone.

“And in those situations where it’s clearly visible where I’m working and in which area there’s some kind of clear video on social media platforms, in that case I was really concerned.”

The employee said he “probably wouldn’t have minded” when it was filmed, but said he wanted to be questioned before filming began.

Allport said such recordings are an “invasion of privacy” and in some cases can have a “significant impact on the mental health of our members”.

The “really watchable” cases are “filming and uploading when the customer is upset about what happened … to embarrass the retailer,” she said.

“Going to work and then being confronted by someone, having a potentially heated conversation with them, being filmed and going on social media, you can imagine how those shop workers feel about it, it can be absolutely horrible.”

When asked what advice she would give Barrymore, Allport replied, “I would say, take five minutes before you do the shoot.

“Go into the store, explain to the staff what you plan to do, and ask them if they’d be interested in starring in the video.

“I guess most don’t mind,” she added, “but it’s common courtesy to ask permission.”
