Miami Grand Prix: Charles Leclerc leads Max Verstappen in practice session only.

Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc practices Red Bull’s Max Verstappen at the Miami Grand Prix.

Leclerc was 0.164s clear of Verstappen, with McLaren’s Oscar Piastre third fastest ahead of Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton as the season resumed after a five-week break.

Mercedes, who had won the first three races of the season, had a difficult time.

George Russell suffered a turbo problem early on, which was rectified by a restart in the garage, and could only manage the sixth fastest time, 0.790s slower than Leclerc.

He was one place ahead of team-mate and championship leader Kimi Antonelli, who didn’t get the chance to run on soft tires at the end of the session because Mercedes was investigating an engine problem with his car.
