Meta launched its first version of AI graphics from Meta Superintelligence Labs On Tuesday, his efforts to compete against his interests OpenAI’s GPT 2.0 graphics and Google Nano Banana 2 in the AI image extraction competition.
A new version, called Muse Image, was released with deep integration into the Instagram app. As part of this change, people Instagram Profiles are now automatically selected as feed for the AI community. All someone has to do is quickly upload your account profile – if it’s public – and they can use Meta AI to create an image using your profile.
Trim it positions this as a sarcastic way to customize your settings with photos of real people. “Whether you want to create a custom invitation, mock up a collaborative idea, or create a personal photo, entering a username allows Meta AI to use public photos to create visuals that are ready to post,” says one of Meta’s blog posts. advertising blogs about a new AI tool.
If you want to avoid AI generation of your Instagram posts, without making your account private, you have to dig into the program’s settings. Open the Instagram app, click on your history, then press the button three lines in the right corner of the screen. Then, go down to Sharing is reuse tab. This is where you should see the written part Allow people to use your content on Instagram and with AI features on Metais a modifier of Notes and one of the Reels.
When I checked my account on Tuesday afternoon, the settings had not been changed to include the new language.
The Instagram support page includes more about how this will affect users, saying that “people can create content with your Instagram using AI features in Meta” if you leave your account public and in default settings. (The pre-archived language on this site as of 2025 does not include the standard AI language.)
Although setting your account to private or changing your settings will prevent some images from being created, AI images that have already been created and your content will not be deleted.
It is also known that Instagram users can edit your photos using AI without your knowledge. “You will not be notified of content created using AI features in Meta,” reads the company’s support page. Of the many things about this release that bug me, not getting a notification when someone does this seems like the biggest red flag of all.
Although it is more than what companies need most of the time choose AI coursesinstead of just entering—as in Google Search is now on sale media downloads, such as image analysis, to train its AI – as a default option for consumers, this new change is worth turning off immediately if you want to avoid additional generations based on your Instagram photos and videos.
