The former Roosters star decides the Champions League champion
“Milan” legend, French Marcel Desali has presented his predictions for the winner of both the Champions League and the 2026 World Cup, which will start next month in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
Arsenal have secured the top spot in the current season’s 2025-2026 Champions League final and are expected to open the Bayern Munich-Paris Saint-Germain second leg today.
The star, who won the World Cup with the Roosters in 1998, won the Champions League twice while a player at Marseille and later with the Rossoneri.
Bayern Munich is the next winner of the Champions League.
“I don’t know who will win, but I would like it to be another team and I think when I look at all the lineups, it has to be Bayern,” Marcel Desali told the Italian Football Podcast on YouTube about who will win the Champions League.
“They suffered because of their consistency in the German league in the last two seasons, but they changed their philosophy to suit their talented squad. The consistency they’ve shown this season shows you need this type of winner to win the Champions League.”

He continued. “Paris Saint-Germain’s play has been inconsistent throughout the season due to injuries. As for Real, it was disastrous in the Spanish league. Fortunately, Barcelona made some mistakes that prevented them from increasing the gap to 15 points. “Barcelona’s defense is weak.”
Barcelona and Real Madrid were eliminated in the quarter-finals after losing to Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich respectively. “So, I will definitely tell you today that the next winner of the Champions League will make me happy if it is Bayern Munich.”
Portuguese surprise.. “Let Ronaldo get his reward”.
France won the World Cup in 2018 and reached the final four years on, and Desali believes they are still the favourites, although he predicts an upset could happen.
“I have to say that France will win (the 2026 World Cup) or Deschamps will kill me,” he said, laughing. “Didier has managed to field two different starting teams… and the same can be said for Spain.”

“But the surprise can come from Portugal. They have talented players. I hope Cristiano Ronaldo gets the same award as Messi.”
“Let Cristiano get his reward. If France can’t win the title, I’d say the surprise could come from Portugal.”
